Russell Scott Valentino's translations include Materada by Fulvio Tomizza, Persuasion and Rhetoric by Carlo Michelstaedter, Between Exile and Asylum: An Eastern Epistolary, and The Other Venice: Secrets of the City, both by Predrag Matvejevic. His translations have received support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Howard Foundation, and the US Department of Education. He teaches in the Translation Workshop at the University of Iowa and is the editor of The Iowa Review.
